About Judy

Judy WesterfieldBeen doing creative things my whole life. Been a Marriage & Family Therapist since 1986. My specialty is working with adults who experience life-altering medical conditions.

Here's the teaching stuff:

One of my passions, besides Max, is teaching. Been teaching my whole adult life. First as an English as a Second Language teacher and then as an elementary school teacher. For the past two decades I've been on the faculty of The Academy for Guided Imagery where I teach Interactive Guided Imagery(sm) to healthcare professionals from all over the United States. I'm also a certified instructor for a wonderful non-profit organization, Art & Creativity for Healing, which gives free workshops for children and adults suffering from pain, abuse, illness and stress. And over the years I've given lots of community workshops and groups. That's a lot of teaching!

Here's the exciting stuff:

And now I'm teaching CEU workshops for MFT's and LCSW's. I have made the workshops the kind I want to attend—fun, creative, informative, where friends and colleagues can come together and feel safe to experience their own creative expression.

In 2005 I was selected by the National Fibromyalgia Association as one of 35 people in the United States as a Leader Against Pain. As a result of that honor, I have combined my own personal journey with fibromyalgia & CFS and my love of teaching to create and now facilitate In The Face of Pain creative expressions workshops.

Here's the necessary stuff:

I'm a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and California State University, Dominguez Hills with a Bachelor degree in English Literature and Master's degrees in Clinical Psychology and Education. I am a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (license # MFC 21977) and a California Continuing Education Provider (provider #3463)

Here's the fun stuff:

I make puppets out of gourds, free-form jewelry, paint, sew and knit. I wrote a puppet play that was chosen to be produced by the Orange County Puppetry Guild. I love chocolate.

Here's the I-will-NEVER-EVER-try, never-in-my-whole-life stuff:

Hang gliding, skiing, parachuting, bungee jumping, becoming a herpetologist.

You now know more about me than I know about you. So if you are interested send me ( ) YOUR name, address & email address and I'll put you on my mailing list. And then perhaps we can get to know each other.
